I am a healthcare attorney and licensed physician (OB/GYN) with blended experience in law, medicine, and public health policy. I bring a rich and varied background with a passion for operating at the intersection of law, compliance, and healthcare, which includes a deep understanding of healthcare systems, public and women’s health, direct medical service, clinical research, and academic medicine, as well as experience in handling healthcare transactions, regulatory compliance, in-market acquisitions and joint ventures, and contracts negotiations for treatment providers.

My LLM in Health Law (earned concurrently with my JD), and decades of practical experience as a physician, senior leader at Fortune 500 healthcare companies, and academic background as a professor and researcher in public health, gives me a broad perspective of how to analyze health law issues while also collaborating effectively across all levels of the health system infrastructure. My value-add experience as a health policy fellow in the US Senate enabled me to work closely with federal and state agencies and legislative branches to ensure access to address health and medical care delivery services and outcomes.

As a trained in-house counsel, I can look at an issue or problem from a variety of perspectives and vantage points, anticipate both the process and procedures points of difficulty or necessitated change, and work with teams to develop innovative solutions that influence policies, processes, and procedures, and further help clinicians, patients, and their families.

I am deeply committed to my ongoing professional development and career growth, as well as improving health and medical care delivery services focused on quality and safe care for patients while ensuring their providers are respected, valued, and recognized as true advocates. In addition to growing my legal career, I continue to practice as a women’s health physician and actively serve as a peer reviewer for the Texas Medical Board, in which I review cases of alleged professional misconduct or failure to provide care that meets the standard of care. I also frequently present nationally and internationally at conferences and seminars on issues related to women’s health, healthcare, and health policy.
