Howard K. Rabinowitz MD is Emeritus Professor of Family and Community Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He served as Director of Jefferson’s rural Physician Shortage Area Program from 1976-2019, a program that was successful in increasing the supply and retention of rural family physicians. He also published research regarding the rural and family medicine physician workforce. He served as President of the American Board of Family Practice, and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. During his RWJ Fellowship, he worked in the office of Sen. John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV, working on the 1993 Clinton Health Care Reform legislation. After the fellowship, he served on the RWJ Health Policy Fellowships Program National Advisory Committee from 2004-20 (UPDATED 05/07/26)
