Biography

Janet Phoenix, M.D., M.P.H, MS. is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management in the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University in Washington. She served on the CDC Lead Poisoning Advisory Committee and on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Children’s Health Protection Advisory Committee. She chairs the DC Asthma Coalition. She was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to serve on the Advisory Council on Environmental Justice for the State of Virginia, an advisory Board on environmental justice issues in the state of Virginia. She was elected to Chair that body in 2018. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Colorado in Denver and her M.D. from Howard University and completed a Masters’ degree in Public Health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore and Master’s degree in Clinical and Translational Sciences at George Washington University.
