Dr. Campos-Outcalt is a Senior Lecturer in the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health and a Clinical Professor in the U. of A. College of Medicine, Phoenix where previously he was the Chair of the Department of Family, Community and Preventive Medicine.
Dr. Campos-Outcalt was a member of the the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices at the CDC for 9 years; 5 as a liaison and 4 as a voting member (term ended in 2015). He currently contracts part- time with the CDC to assess the safety and effectiveness of new vaccines.

Dr. Campos-Outcalt has been the Medical Director of the Maricopa County Department of Public Health and Deputy Director of the Arizona Department of Health Services. He has served on the National Advisory Councils of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the National Health Service Corps and as a member of the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee. In 2001-2002 he was a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Fellow in the office of the U.S. Senate Public Health Subcommittee. He currently serves as a member of the Community Preventive Services Task Force, the Advisory Board of the RWJ Health Policy Fellowship at the National Academy of Medicine, and the Advisory Board of the Robert Graham Health Policy Center.
