Biography

Judy Schaechter, MD, MBA, is President and CEO of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), championing efforts to set standards of excellence in certification, continuous learning and practice improvement to advance child health outcomes. The ABP works in partnership with pediatricians and other stakeholders to support optimal health for all children and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, belonging and inclusion. Prior to joining the ABP, Dr. Schaechter was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellowship, staffing the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

Previously, Dr. Schaechter served as chair of Pediatrics at the University of Miami and service chief for child health at Jackson Memorial Health System. Her clinical practice and advocacy work focused on adolescents with complex medical and mental health conditions, injury and violence prevention, education, and disparity reduction. She led the creation of HealthConnect in Our Schools, a public–private partnership supporting multidisciplinary health teams in 170 Miami-Dade County public schools. Dr. Schaechter is committed to exploring technologic and programmatic innovation to impact education, assessment and health outcomes.
