Biography

Danny McCormick, M.D., M.P.H. is an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a member of the Division of Social and Community Medicine at the Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge MA. He earned a BA at Wesleyan University, MD at Tufts University School of Medicine and MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his internship and residency program in primary care internal medicine at the Boston City Hospital and a research fellowship in general internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. McCormick practices as a primary care internist at a community health center within an academic integrated public hospital system. His research focuses evaluating access to and quality of care for underserved populations, including the uninsured. Specifically, he has published studies examining the appropriate use of cardiovascular and psychiatric medications in disadvantages populations and according to insurance type (HMO vs. fee-for-service). More recently, his research has focused on the relationship between quality of care and public disclosure of quality scores among HMOs, and on understanding physician’s views of different health care financing models. He is currently conducting studies on access to end of life care for patients with cancer who lack health insurance. He teaches clinical medicine to medical students and internal medicine residents (inpatient and outpatient ) and is a faculty member of the Harvard General Internal Medicine Fellowship Program .
